Germany Roadtrip - Day 5

There was absolutely no traveling done on this day, which was a welcome change of pace. We simply got to walk and enjoy ourselves :). We first headed to one of the main gates where we wanted to walk along the wall. It took us a little bit to find a staircase up to the top of the wall, but once we found it, we ditched our stroller and then walked along the wall for a while :). We chose to put him in the Ergo carrier. He wanted to fall asleep. No worries, we didn't let him :).

After we got down from the wall, we went and picked up our stroller and then stumbled upon a really cute shop with cute scarves. And they were cheap. So, I had to stop and get some because I am a scarf addict. So, Andy took Carsten on a short walk while I picked out a couple, and then we kept walking along the wall until we decided that we needed to find some lunch (falafel sandwiches!) and then get Carsten a nap. This was a courtyard on the middle of the fortifications where farmers unloaded crops. It was dated 1537 in this section. Sorry, I'm fascinated by how old things are in Europe.

 During naptime, Mom and Dad first stayed with Carsten while we went and did a bit of shopping. We bought some Christmas ornaments (a bit out of season, but it seems to be their thing), and then wandered a bit to a few other shops without really buying anything. After we finished shopping, we sent my parents out to shop, and Carsten actually got a pretty good nap :). Once nap was over, we went to the criminal museum, which had a bunch of information and displays on the rather harsh treatment of criminals. The museum was very interesting, and we found out a baker who didn't make bread to the correct weight (too light or heavy) got dunked in the river in a cage however many ounces he was off. That's crazy. Anyway, here are a few photos:

We ate supper at a really nice italian place, and Andy and I shared a lemon liquor for dessert. It was yummy!

What a fun day! Rothenburg is definitely worth a visit to those of you who find yourselves in Germany :).
